Hydrate It Up

Get your skin ready for the month of Ramadan with these 10 skin care tips!

With Ramadan fast approaching it will soon be time to cut down on the amount of makeup you wear. This means that before the month starts you need to make sure your skin is glowing, hydrated and cared for. Not only that, but you need to maintain its hydration all throughout the month so that it stays fresh and healthy as your water consumption decreases.

Getting to where you want to be with your skin comes down not only to using the right skincare, but also drinking enough water and picking up the right habits. So before all else, make sure you’re consuming at least 2 liters of water a day and the rest will follow. To see maximum results using our 10 skincare tips, start implementing them into your routine at least 10 days to two weeks before the start of Ramadan.

Cleanser

A good skin regimen starts with the cleanser. You’ll need a product that doesn’t leave your skin parched for moisture but in the same time gets rid of all the residue from the day to unclog your pores.

Exfoliate

Exfoliating your skin is very important to remove all the dead skin cells resting on the surface. If you don’t exfoliate often, you’ll instantly see the results; your skin will look radiant and rejuvenated. In general, you should be exfoliating around once or twice a week, but when Ramadan comes around, avoid this step altogether. This is because your skin will already be slightly dehydrated during the month, so you don’t want to strip it of more protection than necessary.

Hydrating Mask

Masks are a wonderful day to take some time out of your day and pamper yourself. In addition, they’re a great way to treat breakouts and inject a lot of hydration into your skin. Look for ingredients such as Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamin E or Honey for their moisturizing properties, while tea tree oil, turmeric or Aloe Vera help with treating blemishes and balancing the skin.

Sparkling Water

Wash your face with sparkling water! It may sound unconventional at first, but the fizz will help open up your pores and clean out impurities. This prevents breakouts and actually reduces the overall appearance of pores.

Toner

Next, apply a PH balancing toner to your skin to take off any leftover oils or dead skin cells and to reset the PH balance of your skin. If your skin needs extra hydration, choose a moisturizing toner which will often have a milky consistency. Get ready for purified and naturally glowing skin!

Spot Treatments

One of the main reasons some people wear makeup is to hide any blemishes they might have, so be proactive and treat the problem before it even appears! Spot treatments contain a concentration of active ingredients which are aimed at combating your problem areas. If breakouts are your concern, look for ingredients such as tea tree oil or salicylic acid, while Vitamin C can combat hyperpigmentation and acne marks.

Day Cream

You should never, ever be leaving your house without moisturizer. Even if you have oily skin, you need to make sure it stays hydrated throughout your day to avoid excess sebum production. Apply it right after your tonic to pump some moisture back into your skin. When choosing your day cream there are a couple of things to keep in mind. Firstly, if you have oily or sensitive skin, favor a gel consistency over heavy creams to minimize pore clogging. Secondly, choose creams which already have an SPF factor integrated into them to protect your skin from the harsh UV rays – a minimum of SPF 15 will do the trick.

Skin does the most regeneration while you’re asleep. Make the most out of this process by applying a rich night cream right before you go to bed. You’ll start seeing the differences from the next morning and your skin will look more nourished and healthier than ever.

Under Eye Serum

If you haven’t added an undereye serum to your skincare routine, then you really should. With consistent use, this miracle product will get rid of fine lines, reduce puffiness and make you look less tired than you are. Isn’t that exactly when you need for those long Ramadan nights? When applying you under eye serum, be very gentle on the skin and simply tap the product in – don’t rub as that area is very sensitive and susceptible to wrinkles. To depuff your eyes you can do a soft face massage by tapping your check bone area with your fingers.

Anti-Wrinkle Cream

One of the main reasons for tired looking skin is tiny wrinkles and fine lines. So an anti-aging cream could do wonders for making you look more awake and rejuvenated. Plus, most anti-aging creams are packed with powerful ingredients such as Hyaluronic Acid, that locks moisture into the skin and keeps it supple.
